A Consumer Guide To Replacing Windows |
Quiet Night At Former PubResidents are raising a glass in peace to the high performance aluminium windows in their brand new apartments, which have been built on the site of a former pub. Fabricated from the Beaufort Secure Design system, the windows have been fitted with special acoustic glazing to help cut down traffic noise from the main road running past the buildings. The £137,000 contract involves two blocks of flats, a two-storey and a three storey, and called for 149 high performance aluminium windows in a brown polyester powder coating, plus residential doors. Previously the White Hart pub, the site is on the Uxbridge Road, Middx, where the two blocks are being developed by Uxbridge-based KingsOak Homes. The specification called for Beaufort’s 70mm direct fix, tilt and turn aluminium windows, colour coated in a brown Syntha Pulvin finish. The brown colour was no problem for the Beaufort system, which offers over 500 special finishes – subject to quantity and delivery – which are all applied in accordance with BS 6496 for greater durability. The Beaufort tilt and turn system was selected not only for easy cleaning, but also because the gearing was able to accommodate the extra weight of the high specification glass used for windows at the front of the building. The volume of traffic on the Uxbridge Road led to glass with special acoustic properties being chosen to help keep the noise out. In addition, the doors on the ground floor are laminated for extra security. Also see; replacement window types.Author Notes:
