New Integrity® Double Hung and Glider Windows Match Beauty with Brawn
Windows with superior performance and a gorgeous appearance – builders now have the best of both worlds with the significantly enhanced Double Hung and Glider windows made by Integrity® from Marvin Windows and Doors.
The most notable improvements to these windows include a higher certified design pressure (DP) rating, improved installation features, an enhanced appearance and more sizes. Ultrex?, a pultruded fiberglass-based material, is used on the exterior of all Integrity Wood-Ultrex Series products to add strength, stability and overall superior performance. Twice as strong as steel and eight times stronger than vinyl, Ultrex outlasts and outperforms virtually all other window materials, including vinyl and roll-form aluminum. Ultrex’s patented finishing process makes Integrity windows extremely resistant to spotting, scratching, streaking, fading and chalking.
“Thanks to direct input from our customers, we’ve found multiple ways to make a great line of windows even better,” said Brett Boyum, director of marketing for Integrity. “These are great-looking windows that builders are sure to appreciate for their performance and installation advantages, increasing homeowner satisfaction and decreasing inconvenient job site callbacks.”
By moving weatherstripping from the sash to the jamb, increasing the sill’s slope and adding a new sill gasket, these windows have improved their certification from DP 30 to DP 40. An optional High Performance (HP) Kit provides DP 50 certification, enabling these windows to meet heightened building standards in certain parts of the country.
Builders will notice several enhancements to these Integrity windows:
- Larger corner keys in the frames and sash. Self-sealing or injected corner keys make the frame and sash more rigid and square.
- A thicker sill nose and replaceable interior wood sill dam cover. These make the window more durable on the job site and improve its appearance.
An improved heavy-duty sash lock and keeper. This allows the window to be shipped locked, which helps prevent shipping and job site damage. The lock snaps into place to confirm that the window is locked.
- A non-integrated folding nailing fin. A folding nailing fin gives builders better installation flexibility and holds up better on the job site.
A new balance tube tilt latch hook. Unique in the industry, this secures the sash to the jamb and ensures a square unit, as well as proper tilting and removal of both sash.
- Superior fit and finish. Tight, clean and consistent miters, the lack of additional glazing stops and balanced and aligned external sight lines make for a clean and attractive appearance.
Homeowners are sure to notice a greater use of furniture-grade pine on the interior of the windows, which can be stained or painted to match any interior décor. The Double Hung and Glider windows feature more wood on the jambs, sill and accent ledge. Interior operational improvements include a new ergonomic tilt latch, which is smaller yet easier to operate, a low-profile lock and a new jamb carrier and weatherstrip that reduces the force needed to move the sash up or down.
Externally, builders will note the enhanced curb appeal of these windows. Integrity has changed the sill’s slope, from 8 degrees to 13 1/2 degrees, to provide greater window depth and a more attractive appearance. The window’s exterior comes in either Stone White or Pebble Gray.
Integrity has added seven new sizes of Double Hung operating windows and 13 new Double Hung Picture units. The enhanced line, which is ENERGY STAR® qualified, will be available starting in early 2006.
