February 19, 2006 By: David Jones Tools To Install A Shutter - Screwed Against A WallThere are differing types of shutters of course, But here we'll take a look at the decorative style because they are the shutters that most homeowners purchase. So what tools to install a shutter like this are needed? Not many are the answer. Decorative shutters are not designed to function, so they are simple to set up and mount with just a bit of effort. And the tools to install decorative shutters reflect the easy installation process. Although mounting decorative shutters is not complicated, you still need to be careful to follow the shutter manufacturer’s installation instructions. As proper installation will vary slightly depending on factors like what material the shutters are made of and what type of wall they are to be fixed to. Is Everything There?Check that everything is present and correct before you start as well. Some shutter suppliers and manufacturing companies will include anchors and screws as an included part of the shutter product you purchase. Whilst others will expect you to supply your own, though hopefully they will recommend the types to buy. Many vinyl decorative shutters now are installed via concealed clips, which enable the screws or other fasteners to be hidden. If so then these clips will be included. The clips are not complicated, they are screwed onto the wall, and then shutter is mounted onto them. As well as screws and anchors (or sometimes nails for wood shutters) you’ll need a drill and handheld screwdriver or a drill / driver to take care of both tasks. Other than that you should only need a good pencil and a tape measure for the installation of your decorative shutters. Also see; exterior window shutters.Author Notes:
