Window Warranties - Does The Quality Qualify?

There may be all sorts of enticingly different window types, designs and styles out there in the marketplace to look at. But if you want to replace your windows then sooner or later a decision will have to be made. So what about window warranties?

This is where some folks start to backtrack. Purchasing windows (like most products) in theory is fine, but having to actually order them means payments will have to be made. So what kind of warranties on windows should be sought by customers?

The first thing is to make sure you view and read the guarantee properly and don't be too embarrassed to ask the manufacturer or supplier questions if you don't understand some warranty details. If they don't want to answer them, then immediately go elsewhere to buy your windows!

A Pledge Of Satisfaction

Warranties and guarantees offered to replacement window customers can differ quite a bit, so here are some warranty questions to consider before making your purchase.

Is that window warranty fully transferable? If not then the window guarantee will be annulled if you sell your home. This could be a real concern to any potential buyer that might cause problems for you if you want to move house.

Presuming you are buying insulated glass then you should really get a guarantee for a minimum often years without proration.

Some companies offer lifetime guarantees, but remember if they go bust then so will the warranty.

What about service if something does go wrong? Does the manufacturer or supplier you are considering dealing with have quality service personnel in your locality? And if not just how far away are they anyway?

Exactly how would the assurance be backed up by action? Who do you contact and how and when would the window be replaced?

Warranties will never cover every possible thing to everyone's liking, but just make sure that the guarantee on your window makes the transaction worthwhile.
