Replace Window System – A Friend For Life

The office of General Services Commissioner has announced that Mid-State Construction Services, Inc., New York, has been awarded a $2.1 million contract to replace the outdated window system in Syracuse’s Hughes State Office Building. This Replace Window System and caulking will vastly improve the energy efficiency in the building, thereby making a substantial saving in heating and cooling expenses.

The existing window systems have been in place since the building was constructed in the mid-1950s. Technology has advanced in leaps and bounds since then and the need of the hour is to replace window systems for a more energy efficient window system .The existing windows systems are made of steel and have a single pane glazing with an operable sash. The windows and are not weather tight and let air to infiltrate.

Mid-State Construction Services, Inc. will replace the windows with minimal impact and marginal inconvenience to the building tenants. The existing windows will be removed from the building’s exterior. Temporary partitions will be erected immediately inside to prevent wind, rain and dust from entering the building during the replacement of the windows.

The new replacement windows are of aluminum with thermal break and fixed insulated glazing sashes. For added convenience and efficiency during cleaning, the windows open inwards. During the replacement process, windows will be modified to create a weather tight seal. These replacement windows systems come with a high performance warranty of 10 years on the glazing, product finish and hardware window components. The new window systems also have a 20-year warranty on the thermal barrier. The outcome of the window replacement exercise will be the installation of a top- notch insulation-providing window system, which is energy efficient and will help the taxpayer save billions of dollars per annum.
