Marvin windows and doors introduces the first-ever wood screen
"How did they do that?" That's what
homeowners and building professionals are saying about the latest industry first from Marvin Windows and Doors - a
nearly invisible, wood screen with a clad exterior that blends smoothly into the profile of the window. This wood
screen is one of several innovative features and options on Marvin's enhanced Casemaster window, unveiled today at
the 2003 International Builders' Show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"Marvin is committed to innovation - we have been for more than 60 years," says Susan Marvin, President of Marvin
Windows and Doors. "We continually rise to the challenge of creating high quality, personalized solutions that meet
the changing needs of today's homeowners and building industry professionals. The enhancements made to Marvin's
Casemaster are no exception."
Marvin's leading-edge approach to product development is evident in two key product features available on Marvin's
Casemaster: the industry's first wood screen and an ergonomically-designed folding handle.
Beautiful Wood Screen With Low Maintenance Clad Exterior
Homeowners tired of the annual chore of removing window screens and searching for a place to store them will
appreciate Marvin's new wood screen option - a pioneering development in the fenestration industry. The virtually
invisible screen's surround blends seamlessly with the interior décor, giving it a polished, furniture-grade appeal
all year long and making it virtually unnecessary to remove.*
To keep maintenance at a minimum, the wood screen comes with a durable extruded aluminum clad exterior that prevents
bowing and warping, and resists dents and scrapes. The Cladding features a neutral beige finish that matches the color
of the exterior weather stripping to create a harmonious look. For added-time savings, the wood interior is
factory-prepped with a cleverly-designed, removable finishing strip around its perimeter to prevent paint from getting
on the screen mesh.
Homeowners who opt to purchase Marvin's existing aluminum Casemaster screen can easily upgrade to the wood option
in the future. The aluminum and wood screens are designed to be interchangeable, and can easily be removed. A spring-loaded
clip enhances the ease of installing the remarkable wood screen.
A Folding Handle that Cradles in Your Palm
Marvin's patented new folding handle makes operating a casement window virtually effortless. In fact, Marvin went
outside the industry and sought out a medical products designer to assist in developing an ergonomically-shaped handle
that has the operator's comfort in mind. The handle's sleek, intuitive design makes it easy to grasp and maneuver -
simply lift up the handle and rotate to invite in fresh breezes. The handle folds down compactly into a resting position
that is unobtrusive and will not interfere with window treatments. Its clean, simple lines will complement any décor,
from traditional to contemporary, or anywhere in between.
The Casemaster's folding handle now comes with a neutral Satin Taupe finish - the newly introduced standard color
for Marvin's hardware. The subtle, earthy tone blends into the warm woodwork, accentuating the beauty of the wood
interior. Additional hardware options available with Marvin's Casemaster include: Antique Brass, Brushed Chrome,
Polished Chrome, White, Brass and Bronze.
It's all in the Details
Marvin's attention to detail didn't escape even the smallest detail on the Casemaster window. Discerning customers
will notice three subtle, but impactful aesthetic and performance enhancements on Marvin's Casemaster, including:
A new screen placement that is set back tightly against the sash to allow room for window treatments,
enhance hardware operation and accentuate the beauty and warmth of the exquisite all-wood interior
One-piece aluminum sash extrusion that creates fewer seams, making the window more visually appealing,
while enhancing its ability to keep water and other elements out
An added layer of silicone seals the glass to the aluminum to increase performance and durability
