Demand leads to creation of Windsor's new vinyl double hung
It's not often a product is in demand before it's even created.
Such is the case with the new vinyl double hung window from Windsor
Windows & Doors. One of the hottest new products for the new
millennium is now rolling off the assembly lines at Windsor. It's
the Next Dimension Vinyl Double Hung window, and it's sure to become
a welcome addition to new and remodeled homes.
Builder and consumer satisfaction and demand led to the addition
of the Vinyl Double Hung to the Next Dimension Series from Windsor.
"Because we value their expertise, we meet regularly with distributors
and builders to stay on top of their window needs. Based on their
requests and recommendations, we have actually designed two products
with our vinyl double hung – one for new construction and one
for remodeling/replacement applications," says Jeff Jones,
Windsor's Vice-President of Sales & Marketing.
Like other Windsor vinyl windows, the double hung combines easy
installation and no-maintenance ease with the finest vinyl extrusions,
superb craftsmanship, superior design and extensive testing.
The double hung frame has a combination pocket/sloped sill for superior
water and structural performance. The sash has an easy-to-move lift
and pull handle on both the top and bottom rails, along with attractive
flush-mounted tilt latches. The windows include a full screen with
a unique plunger-type engagement to provide a tight fit to the vinyl.
Screen frames perfectly match the window frame color and can be
easily removed from the interior for cleaning. "The Windsor
vinyl double hung is sure to attract remodelers to the Windsor line,"
says Jones. "The retro-fit applications for the replacement
market make it versatile and architecturally appealing due to its
authentic wood-like appearance."
Some of the retro-fit features include pre-drilled holes in the
frame for easy installation, jamb jacks, no nail fin, accessory
pieces and a unique exterior stop cap that will ease installation
and provide a more finished look.
Energy Efficiency
"Vinyl windows and doors offer unparalleled
energy efficiency performance," says Jones. The insulating
properties of vinyl, multi-chambered frame construction and Windsor's
standard dual-sealed double pane insulated glass provides cost-saving,
energy efficient performance. "The dual weather strip on the
double hung sash check rail and the frame head and sides provides
an incredible seal," adds Jones.

Testing
Windsor conducts extensive testing for
dimensional tolerance, impact and heat resistance, ultraviolet degradation,
color retention, lineal strength, and advanced weathering and other
performance characteristics to assure that the double hung line
meets or exceeds NFRC and AAMA industry standards.

production of its Next Dimension vinyl windows in early 1995. The
Windsor Next Dimension line is commercially rated because of its
strength and structural integrity. The product line also includes
