Windsor Window Company markets an industry first

Windsor Window Company, a leading producer of standard and custom windows, is marketing an all-cellular PVC foam window, the Legend Series offering a 25-year warranty against rotting, warping, cracking and swelling.

The new window products, available in double hung units as well as radius and picture units, have grown rapidly since their initial availability in April 1996.

"We developed the cellular PVC foam window because we needed a middle-market product that would perform well in high-moisture areas throughout the Southeast, particularly in coastal regions," said Mike Crook, Legend Series product manager for Windsor’s North Carolina plant.

"Demand from builders and their customers for a maintenance-free window with a traditional appearance really drove our development efforts," he said. "As sales have indicated, this new product is being well received throughout the Southeast region, and we expect it will also gain a national market because of it’s outstanding performance."

Before introducing the new windows, which took more than a year to develop, Windsor subjected them to extensive testing and certification, including 1000 hours of salt water testing.

"Test results were extremely favorable, which led us to offer one of the strongest warranty programs in the industry," said Richard Stephens, general manager of the company’s North Carolina plant. "Our all-cellular exterior products carry a 25-year warranty against embridlement and degradation of sash components and 7 years on the exterior/interior applied paint. We feature a 20-year warranty on insulated glass."

The all-cellular PVC exterior windows will not rot, warp, crack, stick or swell and offer superior R and U values. Key features include interior silicon glazing, finger pulls in top and bottom rails and superior operating ease, Stephens said.

The windows, available in traditional styling, are pre-painted in white on both interior and exterior sides, which helps reduce builder costs. The windows can be easily re-painted, according to company officials.

"There have been a number of window introductions using exterior cellular PVC, but we believe our new window is the first all-cellular unit -- both window and sash." said Crook. "We feel builders and their home buying customers will gain the greatest benefit from this new technology and materials through an all-cellular approach. This is a "no-call back, maintenance-free product."

Windsor Windows worked with Marley Moldings, a leading PVC products producer, in developing the new windows, which are marketed as a private label by major distributors and as Windsor’s own branded product -- the Legend Series.
